The River Thames, 23-25 July 2007

Abingdon Meadow as seen from Tithe Farm on the evening of 23 July 2007.

The meadow is completely covered by floodwaters and edged in the distance

by a row of boats moored along what should have been the river's edge.

The boats are moored to the actual river bank and surrounded by water on both sides,

and are shored up with poles to keep them from drifting landside.

The boats are moored along the river bank and trying to stay there,

hence the scaffolding buttresses to keep them from drifting across the meadow.

The boats are those seen above and moored to the bank surrounded by water on both sides, except where the land rises towards the bridge, and are shored up to keep them from drifting landside.
