A Tour of Radley

North Radley

At the north end of Radley, open pasture merges into woodland. Bagley Wood covers much of Kennington to the north. Within Radley itself, lies Radley Great Wood, a smaller separate area of woodland on the SE corner of Bagley wood. Public footpath F7 skirts its western edge, and a number of paths extend into the wood. This is an area of great natural beauty that is enjoyed by walkers and naturalists. The Pebble Hill and Woodlands mobile homes parks lie amongst the trees on the eastern edge of Radley Great Wood where it borders on the Kennington Road. To the west, the often busy A34 cuts a swathe through the countryside. However this section of the road lies in a cutting so that the visual and aural inpact on the surrounding countryside is lessened to the extent that, within a hundred metres or so, one is hardly aware of its presence. A small settlement lies within the parish to the west of the A34 between it and the old A4183 (now unclassified) Abingdon-to-Oxford road.
