We currently have nearly 40 people on the list of regular Thursday volunteers and, whilst it is wonderful that you are so willing to get involved to help look after Thrupp Lake, it means that finding tasks to keep you all occupied each month is becoming more and more challenging. The tasks we can undertake on site are limited by a lack of land and definitely not by a lack of willing volunteers– it’s a great problem to have! So this year (2013) we are going to trial limiting numbers on each monthly work party to a maximum of 10 on a first-come first-served basis. Lorretta will continue to send out the monthly reminders but asking you to let her know if you are able to come and she will let you know if and when numbers exceed 10. Also, if you let her know you are coming and plans change and you can no longer make it, please let her know so that she can offer a place to someone else.

Apart from the restriction on numbers, the work parties are open to all. Contact Lorretta (details below) if you wish to be added to the mailing list.

Update by Lorretta Waters (June 2013): Although the attendance has been down at all sessions, apart from June, and we have averaged just 5 people a session during that time, we would like to continue with limiting the sessions to 10 as it really is more efficient to have a smaller more manageable group for the majority of the tasks we carry out at Thrupp, however we would appreciate any feedback  you have on the system, now that we have been using it for 6 months.

We really do value all of the time and commitment you have shown to Thrupp Lake and please don’t feel put off from attending a work party in the future. Loretta will continue to send out the monthly emails asking for people to let her know if they are able to come, on a first come first served basis, and looks forward to seeing you all at the one of the work parties in the future.

All tools, equipment and refreshments will be provided as usual and we will continue to meet in the Sandles car park at 10am and continuing until 1pm.
