Parish Council update for September

Church Road and Foxborough Road closures

The Parish Council has received notice of another planned closure of Church Road and part of Foxborough Road overnight (8pm to 6am) from 16th to 25th September to enable Oxfordshire County Council to carry out routine drainage surveys in preparation for possible resurfacing works next year.  They assure us that access to homes and businesses will be maintained, the pavement will remain open at all times and arrangements have been made for the bus to run on a modified route while the road is closed.  Further information regarding the works may be obtained by calling Vasim Abubacar at Oxfordshire Highways on 0345 310 11 11.

Village Lengthsman

The Parish Council is very pleased to announce that from a very strong field of applicants, the Council has appointed Chris Lee to the post of Village Lengthsman.  In keeping with the traditional lengthsman role, he will be keeping an eye on the Parish Council’s property and equipment and undertaking minor maintenance tasks and repairs as they arise.

The Parish Clerk remains your contact for any concerns in the village which will be fed on to the Council.

Speed awareness signs

The Parish Council has concluded that the present volume of construction and other traffic warrants the purchase of a third vehicle operated sign to be permanently located in Whites Lane. The two existing signs will continue to be rotated around the other sites.

The Council is very grateful to Patrick Beasley who taken on the job of moving the current signs and organising charging the batteries on a voluntary basis for the last few months.

Radley Mini-meadow

The Lower Radley green and the triangles at the entrance to Lower Radley were cut in July and the St James Terrace mini-meadow is scheduled for cutting at end of August with the cuttings left to lie for a few days to reseed for next year.  More wildflower seeds will be sown in all of these areas in the autumn to further increase Biodiversity in the village.
