Radley Retirement Group – Newsletter December 2017

What we have been doing

The theatre trip to see “Driving Miss Daisy” at the Playhouse was a great success this time as the sound was much better and people could hear what the cast were saying.  We had complained to the management before about the  sound  so thank you to them for improving it.

Bob Evans was our speaker in November and he told us about some of the interesting  people who were buried in Sunningwell church yard.  His talk was entitled “Tales of God’s Acre – some Sunningwell lives”.

Unfortunately we had to cancel the trip to Clarks shopping village as there were not enough people to support  it.

A very big thank you to all the people who donated  or supported us in making the Bazaar such a success.  We had 57 prizes in our super raffle, many donated for which we are very grateful.  Our raffle for the Miele  cleaner,  (again kindly donated ), was well supported and one lucky winner won  it for £1.00.  We are now able to send a donation to our charity which this year is PHAB (physically  handicapped and able bodied).  Thank you  also  to our  sub-committee who worked so hard to make this a success.

Future dates

Our next meeting Tuesday 12th December  will be our Christmas party and we will be entertained by “Mr Ukele”

Doors are open at 1.30pm and the meeting starts at 2pm in the Village Hall

We have no more outings for this year but look forward to some interesting ones next year.

The trips to the theatre have also finished for this year.  If there is an event at the Playhouse that anyone is interested in, then please contact Andrea  Saunders and she will see if she can arrange it.
