Radley Retirement Group – Newsletter February 2016

rrg

What we have been doing:

We wish all our readers a very Happy New Year.

January brought us our annual 50/50 auction.  We had a good supply of unwanted Christmas presents to auction and some members went away with some very good bargains.  Thank you to all our members who either brought items for sale or who  bid for them in the auction.  We made £78. 25p  for our funds  which was about the same amount we made last year, so well done everyone.

45 members went to Coseners House for our Anniversary dinner.  Unfortunately  4 had to cancel due to ill health.

Our “after dinner “ entertainment was provided by Bill Shaw and David Harmsworth with a contest to see who could get the balloon to travel the furthest across the dining room.  This was won once again by David.  Again this was an excellent  meal and  Coseners House staff looked after us well.

Future dates…….

Our first outing for this year will be a visit to the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley, West Midlands.  This will be in April so I will give more details later.

Theatre trips

At the moment we do not have any Theatre visits planned as the Playhouse is still showing the pantomime but Andrea is looking for something in the near future.

Holidays

Northumbria and Holy Island in May/June  2016 –

There will be excursions to Holy Island, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Cragside (National Trust) and Durham as well as a free day to explore Newcastle or visit the coast by Metro.

Skegness November/December 2016

As a group we have never been to Lincolnshire so we thought we should pay it a visit!!!  It is of course a Festive Break.

The hotel is the Chatsworth and it is situated on the sea front.  All the rooms have en-suite facilities with T.V. and tea and coffee maker.

We will have one day in Lincoln and one day visiting Newark and Spalding.  We also have a day touring the Wolds via Horncastle and Louth.

On the way home we call at Melton Mowbray, famous for its pork pies and Stilton cheese, which we did visit many years ago.

The cost of this holiday is £280 (less than this year) with a deposit of £40 to be paid in July.

If you are interested in our holidays please contact Dot Hewlett Ab 531082
