Radley Retirement Group – Newsletter February 2019

What we have been doing

In January  we had our annual auction when members brought any unwanted Christmas gifts to be sold.  Again this was a very entertaining afternoon with many bargains and a lot of hilarity.  Our auctioneer was once again Eric Blanks, who announced that this would be his last time of acting as auctioneer.  A big thank you to Eric  for doing it so well over so many years, also a big thank you to the other members who acted as porters and treasurers making everything run so smoothly.

Forty three members and guests attended the second film show which was “Mama Mia Here we go Again”.  This again proved to be very well received by everyone who attended.

Once again the Anniversary lunch , held at Cosenors House was a great success.  Thirty nine members  enjoyed a lovely lunch, again organised by Diane, Judith and Val.  Thanks must be given to them for all their hard work in arranging this every year.

Isle of Man May 2019

We cross the ferry to the Isle of Man from Heysham where we are staying at

The Chesterfield Hotel in Douglas, located on the sea front, and it provides all the usual facilities.  It has a lounge, bar, restaurant and a lift.

We will have three days exploring the island including a journey on the Snaefell Mountain Railway where there should  be magnificent views of “six countries” weather permitting !!!!  You will have a free day to rest or try out one of the other railways or go on a horse tram.

The cost of the holiday is £550 including the ferry crossings and the railway but could be reduced, as the Barmouth one was, if we get enough people.

Balance to be paid this month.

Isle of Wight  November 2019

This is a Tinsel and Turkey break. The Hotel is the Royal Pier Hotel Sandown.

It has all the usual facilities with a lift to all main floors. There is live entertainment every evening.

One day will be a visit to Osborne House, which will be decorated as it was in Queen Victoria’s time, included in the price of the holiday.  Another day will be free to use your bus pass!!!

The cost of the holiday will be £320. There is no single supplement.
