Radley Retirement Group – Newsletter October 2017

What we have been doing

In August our speaker was Captain Cyril Mannion who came dressed in his pilots’ uniform and took us on a ride in his aeroplane.  We had a pilots’ view, with the help of a video, of the take-off,  journey and landing of a plane from Mumbai in India  to London Heathrow.  He explained all the work of the pilot, co-pilot and air crew during the flight.

The visit to the Poppy Factory at Richmond was very interesting and enjoyed by all who went.  Several members made their own poppies.  There was also time to have a stroll along the river and have lunch before the visit to the factory in the afternoon.

Future dates.

A date for your diaries is Saturday November 18th when we will be holding the annual Christmas Bazaar in the Village Hall.  This is a chance to buy some of your Christmas presents.  There will be the usual stalls and a raffle.

Our next meeting Tuesday 10th  October

Our speaker this month is Christine Wallace who has taken part  in the “Great British Bakeoff” and has appeared many times on television and written many articles about her time on the show.  She has called her talk “The Great British Bakeoff, Before, During and After”.  We welcome anyone who would like to hear her talk.

Doors are open at 1.30pm and the meeting starts at 2pm in the Village Hall
