Radley Retirement Group – Newsletter September 2021

rrg

Our first meeting since the beginning of the pandemic was a great success.  On entering the hall it was arranged in a horseshoe pattern to enable everyone to see the singer, Lovely Hudson, who entertained us during the afternoon with songs from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.   Flowers arranged by Carol Milward were on each table.  We had a very nice cream tea in the middle of the session organised by Sue Crabb and members of the Committee.  We had 70 members, including 6 new members attend which was lovely to see after such a long time.

We had hoped that Mary Blanks would be well enough to join us in order that we could present her with a cheque, which was to have been paid to Eric for all his hard work with the Retirement Group, but unfortunately she was unable to come due to a recent fall.  However Val Reynolds took the flowers and cheque to her house the next day.

We would like to invite two more members onto the Committee.  If you can spare about 1 hour a  month to attend Committee meetings we would welcome you with your fresh ideas.  It isn’t a difficult  job but very rewarding and you are able to have an input into the Clubs activities.  The more  Committee members we have the less work it is for each of the other Committee members.

If you feel able to join us please get in touch with Chris on Ab 526377.

Holidays

  1. The holiday to Eastbourne is now full which is very good. The balance must be paid before the 20th September.
  2. The holiday to Majorca is going ahead as long as government restrictions allow.

Outings

  1. September:  Gunwharf Quays Portsmouth.  The cost will be £18 for members and £20  for non-members.
  2. November:  Bath Christmas Market.  Cost to be notified later.

If you are interested in going on any of our trips please contact Graham Collett on 01235 555187 or Diane Shaw on 07926 192 127

General

Chris has now set up a Facebook page for members.  This can only be accessed by other members, so is not “public”.  If you would like to see this page on Facebook please contact Chris and he will give you access.  On here he will post any items of news that may arise between meetings.

We hope to have a “technology for members” afternoon.  This will probably be in October but needs to be confirmed.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 14th September so why not come and join us.
