Harlequin Ladybird (Harmonia axyridis spectabilis)
( 26 July 2008)
The Harlequin Ladybird is an immigrant species that has, over the past few years, been invading northwards (see www.harlequin-survey.org) and displacing the native species, which now appear to be a lot less common. Harlequin adults are large (7-8mm) and come in many colour variants.
