Radley Lakes Planning Application Referred to Secretary of State

The planning application by RWE Npower to fill Lake E  with pulverised fuel ash (PFA) has now been referred to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Ruth Kelly for a decision on its determination. (See previous story)

Because the resolution by Oxfordshire County Council to grant permission is contrary to the local development plan, the application has to be referred to the Secretary of State. She now has until 19 September to decide whether to call the application in for a planning enquiry, or allow Oxfordshire County Council to grant permission. The decision will be based upon a recommendation by the Government Office for the SE (GOSE). If however the Secretary of State needs more time to come to a decision, then she can issue a Holding Order which will prevent Oxfordshire County Council from granting permission in the meantime.

If you wish to make representations to the Secretary of State on this matter then you should write to:

Rt Hon Ruth Kelly MP
Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government
Eland House
Bressenden Place

Because time is short, you should also copy your letter to:

Mr Mark Newman
Thames Valley Area Team
Planning and Transport
Government Office for the South East
Bridge House
1 Walnut Tree Close

Representations should focus on “the wider issues”. For further information see
