Radley Retirement Group – Newsletter December 2020

The Committee met again (socially distanced) before the latest “lockdown” to discuss the programme for next year.  Judith has managed to get all the speakers who were booked for this year to come again next year. Graham has booked the coaches for the following outings if all goes to plan. If we are still “socially distanced” we will have bigger coaches to enable people to sit apart.

April ———–Milestones Museum

May ———–Wells Cathedral

June ———–Cambridge Botanical Gardens

July ————Newbury Races (evening)

August –——Bucklers Hard

September—Gunwharf Quays

November –-Christmas Market (to be arranged)

Chris has at last managed to contact Alpha regarding our holidays and after much discussion and many e-mails with them they have agreed to take both our holidays, to Newquay and Eastbourne, over to next year.

Judith has had discussions with Saga regarding the holiday to Majorca.  Unfortunately the Hotel we were booked into doesn’t open until the end of April ( later than we were supposed to go) so she is now in discussion with them to move the holiday to October when we hope it will be safe to travel abroad.

If, as we hope “lockdown” finishes on the 2nd December we will have our next film show on 15th December at 2pm. In the Village Hall.   This will be “What we did on holiday”.  It is a comedy/drama written by Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin, who also wrote the television show “Outnumbered”.  While visiting family in the Scottish Highlands a troubled couple (Rosamund Pike and David Tennant) try to put on a happy face but their 3 children reveal all of their biggest secrets. We will have the usual safe guards in place with socially distanced chairs and hand sanitizers in place.  Again if this goes ahead we ask you not to socialise within the hall but meet outside if you wish. This will again be for MEMBERS ONLY but they may bring one guest who is either in their household or their “bubble”.  The cost will be £2.

In the mean time we wish you all an early Happy Christmas and most of all keep safe and we hope to “resume business” in the new year.
