Radley Retirement Group – Newsletter February 2015

rrg

At our January meeting we enjoyed our annual auction, a very entertaining event. Our annual membership is now due and  63 members collected their 2015 events programme.

Carol Milward, our Chair, gave notice of our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 10th March.  If any of our members have a motion to put to the meeting, this needs to be received in writing at our February meeting (see date below).  Also, if anyone would like to join the Committee, please contact Carol on 01235 526326.

What we’ve been doing….

  • On  Saturday 17th January 2015 more than 50 members enjoyed our Anniversary Lunch at the Coseners restaurant, Abingdon.   This was a really lovely event and the Coseners looked after us very well.
  • “Beauty and the beast”:  Andrea reported that a group had gone to the pantomime at Oxford Playhouse, which they had thoroughly enjoyed, particularly the acrobats, and the Circus especially.

The future…..

On Tuesday 17th March we are hoping to run a coach for a day trip to the Royal Worcester Porcelain museum, which is in the old factory.  The cathedral is just 2 minutes walk from the museum, and the town centre is 5 minutes away. The city’s museums and art galleries are within a half-mile walk.

Our social secretary encouraged everyone to support this day trip,  as we will need a full coach to break even on costs.  If we only fill half the coach, the club has to subsidize the outing. The Committee are therefore asking members to support the outings.

If anyone is interested in going to Worcester, please conact Diane Shaw on  01235 527158.

Theatre….

We are offering 2 dates to go to the Oxford Playhouse:

  • “The King’s Speech” on Thursday, 14 May at 2.30pm
  • “ I believe in Unicorns” on Thurs 2 April at 2pm.

If you are interested in going on one of these trips, please talk to Andrea Saunders.  We will need payment at the time of booking your place.

Holidays….

  • Spring holiday in Falmouth, Cornwall in May 2015
  • Lytham St Anne’s, in November 2015 – our festive break …

If you are interested in our holidays please contact Dot Hewlett.

Membership: Just a reminder that membership is open to all those over 50 who are retired from full-time work and who live within the Ecclestiastical boundary of Radley village. The annual subscription is £5.
