Radley Retirement Group – Newsletter January 2015

What we’ve been doing….

At our December meeting we enjoyed our Christmas bring-and-share and enjoyed some entertaining magic tricks by Edmund Quigley.

The Christmas Bazaar was a great success, and we sold all our cakes and sold many of our handicrafts and books.  We madea profit of over £175!  Many thanks to all who contributed.

Outings  and events……….

  • Day out in Southampton: 27 people enjoyed our trip to Southampton, where they found plenty of things to do in the museums,  shops  and historic buildings.
  • Theatre trip to Riverdance: Ten members enjoyed this trip to the theatre, and  were stunned by the talent of the dancers.
  • The Producers: A number of us went to “The Producers” at Radley College, and all agreed it was an amazing event.

Holidays….

Langhams Hotel proved to be the best hotel we had ever visited, and we enjoyed the best food of any of our holidays.  On our way we stopped at Chichester which has a fine cathedral, a garden and an interesting town centre. On the way we visited Beachy Head which was a real treat.  During the holiday we had the opportunity to visit  Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells and Tenterton, and enjoyed  Brighton where some of us enjoyed the Christmas Spectacular show at the theatre.  On the way back we visited Portsmouth.  We started and finished the holiday in sunshine!

Many thanks to Dot and Judith for organising yet another successful and enjoyable holiday. There are still places on the Falmouth holiday in May, and Dot is already taking names for next November’s holiday in Lytham St Annes. Please contact Dot on 01235 531028 if you are interested in joining us.
