Radley Retirement Group – Newsletter October 2021

For the meeting in September we had a talk by Cyril Mannion entitled “From Routine to Abnormal in the Blink of an Eye.”  This gave us an insight into the problems which may arise for a pilot when encountering a sudden crisis mid-air.  It was comforting to know that they are trained to deal with any such problems and the passengers are often not aware of any crisis.

After our appeal last month for more Committee members, we are very pleased that three of our members stepped forward to help.  They are Margaret Herbert, Jeanne Wakeley and Chinta Kallie.  We are looking forward to working with them in the future.

Future Events:

Our next meeting will be on October12th when our speaker will be Peter Haque and his talk is “Extras in the film industry.”

• Tech Talk by Elaine Walton:  October in the Bowyer Arms at 2pm
• Film Show: My big fat greek wedding. October  in the Village Hall
• Christmas Bazaar: November 20^th in the Village Hall.
• Anniversary Lunch: January at Cosenors House.  Cost £32 including a glass of wine.

Outings:

• Christmas Market to Bath in November.  Cost will be £20 for members and £22 for non-members.

Holidays

1. The holiday to Eastbourne is now full which is very good. The balance should have been paid.
2. The holiday to Majorca has now been cancelled. 
3. We are now going to Malta in March 2022 We will be staying at the Salini Resort, St Pauls Bay, Malta. The cost is £699 inclusive of insurance with no single supplement  There are still places for double/twin rooms, so if this is something you feel you would like to do next year then please contact Judith on Ab. 531001 or jbland1942@btinternet.com
